The site-specific genome integration system for drosophila (FlyC31), created within our NCCR and situated in Zurich, is a unique molecular tool for functional analyses of the genome. The platform provides a means to obtain very efficient transgenesis at predetermined locations, with the use of fly lines that contain the φC31 integrase enzyme, as well as well-defined entry sites.
